Özet

Bu kitapta, psikolojik danışma grubunun oluşum aşamasından başlayarak her kademeye yönelik açıklamalar, özel ihtiyaçlı öğrenciler için yapılması gerekenler ve çok kültürlü uygulamaya kadar her türlü konu adım adım sunulmuştur. Bu nedenle kitabın okul psikolojik danışmanlarına, okullarda grupla psikolojik danışma ve uygulamaları konusunda tam bir yol gösterici olma özelliğine sahip olduğu söylenebilir. Kitabın dilinin sade, anlaşılır olması ve sunulan örneklerin zenginliği kitabı ayrıca çekici kılmaktadır. Kısacası, Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik alanında eğitim gören ve/veya mesleğe yeni başlamış veya halihazırada bu alanda çalışan psikolojik danışmanların bu kitaptan faydalanacakları yönler bulunacaktır.

PERFECTIONISM IN MIDDLE-SCHOOL CHILDREN: ITS RELATIONS TO PARENTAL AUTHORITY AND SELF-ESTEEM

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship of self-esteem and perceived parental authority to two types of perfectionism (adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism) and non-perfectionism in middle school aged Turkish Cypriot children inLondon. All participants were administered Almost Perfect Scale – Revised, Parental Authority Questionnaire and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Questionnaire. One-way ANOVA design was used to see the differences in the means of self-esteem scores, and parental authority scores of adaptive, maladaptive perfectionists and non-perfectionists. It was found that the scores on authoritative parentingwere significantly higher in maladaptive and non-perfectionists than adaptive perfectionists. In addition, maladaptive and non-perfectionists do not have significantly higher scores on permissive parenting than adaptive perfectionists. Finally, results showed that adaptive perfectionists have significantly higher scores in self-esteem than maladaptive and non-perfectionists.

Bu çalışmanın amacı İngiltere’de yaşayan ortaokul yaşındaki Kıbrıslı Türk çocukların baba otoritesini algılama ve benlik saygısıile iki çeşit mükemmelliyetçilikle (uyumsal ve uyumsuz) ve mükemmelliyetçi olmayanlar arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktır. Tüm katılımcılara Yaklaşık Mükemmelliyetçilik Ölçeği – Yenilenmiş, Algılanan Ebeveyn Otorite Ölçeği ve Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Benlik saygısı ve ebevyn otorite puanlarının olumlu, olumsuz ve mükemmelliyetçi olmayan gruplarla ilişkisini ölçmekiçin tek yönlü ANOVA modeli kullanılmıştır. Olumsuz mükemmelliyetçi ve mükemmelliyetçi olmayan grubun puanları demokratik ailelerde anlamlı olarak daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Buna ek olarak, olumsuz mükemmelliyetçi ve mükemmelliyetçi olmayan grubun izinverici aile puanları olumlu mükemmelliyetçi grubun puanlarına göre daha yüksek bulunmamıştır. Ayrıca, sonuçlara göre, olumlu mükemmelliyetçi grubun benlik saygısı puanları olumsuz mükemmelliyetçi ve mükemmelliyetçi olmayan grubun benlik saygısı puanlarına göre anlamlı olarak farklılık göstermiş ve daha yüksek çıkmıştır.

Abstract

The research study aims to explore the essence of group work in drama and role playing for teaching practice inline with the nature of collaborative learning process. This research study has qualitative nature by capturing experiences of volunteer ninety pre-service teachers about group works, gained skills from drama and role playing in their teaching practice within the scope of “Principles of Teaching and Methods” course in higher education. Therefore, self-report was employed in this research. Thematic analysis was used to analyze qualitative data based on key themes. The research findings revealed that pre-service teachers constructed both practical and pedagogical knowledge regarding group work and shed a light to their teaching practice.

Abstract

In the present study we investigated the relationship between perfectionism and the density of experiencing catharsis among university students. The sample consisted of 662 university students at Near East University who completed the Catharsis Scale and the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale. Data were analyzed using regression and t test analyses. The results indicate that there was a significant difference in the catharsis scores of males and females, in favor of females; there was a significant difference in the relationship between the overall scores of experiencing catharsis and perfectionism; and there was a significant difference in the relationship between the overall catharsis scores and both concern over mistakes and doubt about actions subscales of perfectionism. However, there was no significant difference according to gender in the overall catharsis scores and personal standards, parental expectations, parental criticism, and organization subscales of perfectionism. Our findings are consistent with research results in the extant literature.

AN INVESTIGATION OF TEACHER CANDIDATES’ PROBLEMSOLVING SKILLS AND LEVELS OF DEPRESSION

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the possible relationship between the teacher candidates’ problem-solving skills and their levels of depression. The sample of this study consisted of 218 female and 146 male students, who were studying in their first, second, third and fourth years in the Psychological Counseling and Guidance (PCG), Pre-school Teaching (PST), and Special Needs Teaching (SNT) departments. The participants were selected using simple random sampling. A total of 364 participants responded to three different data collection tools, which were the Demographic Information Form, Problem-Solving Inventory and Beck’s Depression Scale. In the analysis of the data, t-test, Pearson correlation analysis and one-way ANOVA were utilized. The results of this analysis showed that there was a significant difference in problem-solving skills based on gender. In addition, significant correlation was identified between problem-solving skills and depression levels of the participants.

Understanding the Psychological State from Facebook Profile: A Qualitative Study on Ethical Awareness

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to examine the prospective psychological counselors’ awareness about the ethical considerations of using Facebook as a psychological counselor. 30 second year and 30 fourth year Turkish students studying in Cyprus participated in the present research study. Self-report was used as the data collection technique. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data based on the main themes. In addition, the qualitative data was supported with quantitative data with frequencies. The findings revealed that although second and fourth year students indicated similar reasoning for each theme, the frequencies were different. Mostly, there are differences in second and fourth year students’ thoughts about the usage of Facebook. The research findings also revealed that although fourth year students are more aware of the ethical considerations and outcomes of unethical practice, the ethical issues should be more emphasized in the counseling classes.

INVESTIGATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA, LONELINESS AND DEPRESSION

Abstract

It is observed that the relationship between the use of the social media by people and the loneliness and depression increases day by day. The main aim of this study is to examine the loneliness, depression and use of the social media by university students with different variables. The study group of the research consists of a total of 530 students during the spring term of the academic year 2014-2015. There was a significant difference among the faculties in terms of using the social media between the Faculties of Education and Theology and the average use of social media by the Faculty of Education was determined to be significantly higher. A significant difference emerged when the relationship between the use of the social media and the levels of depression is studied.
