The Evaluation of Attitudes Towards Research of the Students Studying Library Database via Moodle

Abstract

In recent years, with conjunction of Internet and Web concepts into education, changes had begun to be observed in curricula of schools and softwares started to be used. Web-based education has made each house a school, a faculty and a course with the easy access to internet and computer today. In this study, quantitative- descriptive research method was used in order to determine the Near East University students’ use of databases. Findings of the study had been obtained after relating and interpreting the data gathered from the local and foreign literature scans and survey application findings to the Moodle (learning management system) students to be created. Research’s study group was becoming from 207 accesible students studying “Information and Communication” at Near East Unıversity in TRNC. 50.7% of the study group was male and 49.3% was female. When the age distribution of participating students were examined it was seen that 56% of the students were between the ages “17 and 19” and 44% was “20-23”. Besides according to gathered results, all of the 3 views under the dimension of “Research Use” were answered generally as “Agree”. When it is evaluated according to the items in the survey, it was determined that students are paying attention to periodical and newspaper research topics, and believing that produced information in a research would assist to solve a problem faced in daily life.

Abstract

In this paper, teacher training systems in England, Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were analyzed. In order to understand the teacher training systems better, historical development of educational systems in these countries were also examined. It was focused on the problems that are teacher candidates have while entering the teacher training institutions and after graduation because of the system in TRNC. By analysing the teacher training systems in England and Turkey, suggestions were offered to the problems in TRNC.

Abstract

In this age, there have been rapid changes in every area. With the help of globalization, the changes in science and technology affect and cause economical, cultural, political and social changes in several countries. Those rapid changes in science and technology have not only deeply influenced the education systems but also evaluation of the curricula has been made essential. It is the educational curriculum that provides individuals with the desired behaviour and collects them systematically. In the process of evaluation and revising of educational curricula, the priority should be given to the goals and the changing needs of the society. Therefore, it is necessary to make changes in the curricula accordingly. While evaluating and revising the curricula, the emphasis should be established on both national and international traits. This automatically increases the quality of the education.
