    TOMOGRAPHIC IMAGING TECHNIQUES

    The primary objective of the course is to familiarize the students with the fundamentals of the 2D and 3D image reconstruction in tomographic systems, and grant them experience of programming an image reconstruction algorithm in MATLAB or a similar language, and the skill of tomographic systems modeling. A particular emphasis is made on the hierarchy of imaging methods with respect to the system features, image quality and computational requirements. Another objective is to make the students comprehend the difference between the fundamental limitations in tomographic imaging and the limitations induced by the properties (imperfections) of a real-world tomographic system.
