Learning styles of students from different cultures and studying in Near East University

Abstract

Learning styles are seen to be important to consider in the educational process of the academic world which is also supported by literature. Among other variables, differences of learning styles may be influenced by language, culture, educational department and gender. The purpose of this study was to examine the learning styles of Arabic, Turkish and Cypriot university students studying in the Near East University, enrolled in the Engineering and Educational Sciences Department. This study discusses the influence of culture, gender, native language and department on learning styles.

Abstract

This study is content analysis research in the field of teaching and learning with constructivist approach. The study aims to explore the progress and the trend of researches in this field. For this study 161 articles published between 2002 and 2013 in Science Direct, Eric and EBSCO are examined. The studies are analysed in terms of their formats, content and methodologies.

Bu çalışma bir içerik analizi olup öğretim alanında yapılandırmacı yaklaşım ile öğrenme çalışmalarının incelenmesini hedeflenmiştir. Yapılandırmacı yaklaşımı ile yapılan araştırmalar yeni gelişimler ve yönelimleri kapsamında incelenmiştir. Bu araştırma için 2002 ve 2013 yılları arasında Science Direct , Eric ve EBSCO veri tabanlarında yayınlanan 161 makale biçimleri , içerik ve yöntemleri açısından incelenmiştir.
