Examination of Teacher Reviews on Advantages of Active Learning Model in Preschool Educational Institutions: The Case of Nicosia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine teacher reviews regarding the advantages of active learning models in preschool educational institutions. The nature of this survey consists of teachers responsible from age groups 5-6 in preschool educational institutions and the survey group consists of randomly chosen 50 teachers working at preschool institutions in Nicosia. Descriptive research methods have been used during this survey. The survey design and data collection “Teacher Reviews Assessment Form” has been used. In light of responses gathered from the questionnaires, it was determined that an active learning model has a positive impression on the students.


Özet

Bu çalışma, Lefkoşa bölgesindeki okul öncesi eğitim kurumlarında uygulanan aktif öğrenme modelinin yararlarına ilişkin öğretmen görüşlerini ölçme amacı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Lefkoşa bölgesindeki Yakın Doğu İlkokulu Okul Öncesi Eğitim Merkezine devam eden 5-6 yaş grubu çocukların öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemini ise, bu öğretmenlerinden rastgele seçilmiş 50 kişi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın yürütülmesinde Nicel Yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırma deseni; tarama (survey) deseni, ve veri toplama aşamasında ise “Öğretmen Görüşlerini Değerlendirme Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Anketlere verilen cevaplar doğrultusunda okul öncesi eğitim kurumlarında uygulanan aktif öğrenme modelinin yararlarının öğrenciler üzerinde olumlu etkisi olduğu saptanmıştır.

Examination of Preschool Teacher and Teacher of Mentally Retarded Candidates’ Opinions about Mainstreaming

Abstract

This study aimed to assess opinions of preschool teacher and teacher of mentally retarded candidates’ opinions about mainstreaming. This research was conducted with 110 teacher candidates who study in the departments of Preschool Teaching (third year) and Teaching the Mentally Retarded (second year) in a private university in Nicosia in TRNC. Demographic information form which was composed of 4 questions about teacher candidates and attitude scale which was composed of 30 items related with mainstreaming were used in this research. According to the answers given to the surveys, it was determined that teacher candidates should be made more conscious about mainstreaming.

Bu çalışma, okul öncesi ve zihinsel engelliler öğretmen adaylarının kaynaştırmaya ilişkin görüşlerini ölçme amacı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırma, KKTC’nin Lefkoşa bölgesindeki bir özel üniversitesinde Okul Öncesi 3. Sınıf ve Zihinsel Engelliler 2. Sınıf Öğretmenliği bölümünde öğrenim gören toplam 110 öğretmen adayı ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada öğretmen adaylarına ilişkin dört sorudan oluşan kişisel bilgi formu ve kaynaştırmaya ilişkin 30 maddeden oluşan tutum ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Anketlere verilen cevaplar doğrultusunda araştırmaya katılan öğretmen adaylarının kaynaştırma konusunda daha çok bilinçlendirilmesi gerektiği saptanmıştır.

Examination of Primary School Teachers’ Opinions about Gifted Students

Abstract

This study aims to measure primary school teachers’ opinions about gifted students. This research was conducted with class teachers of a private school in Nicosia region of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). In this study, a demographic information form which is composed of 4 questions and an opinion scale which is composed of 33 items were used. The scale contains three dimensions. First dimension of the scale is related with students characteristics; second dimension is related with teacher characteristics and third dimension is related with teaching characteristics. According to the responses of class teachers to the scale, it was found that the opinions of teachers about gifted students did not show any difference based on teaching experience and educational status of the teachers for three dimensions of the scale.

Bu çalışma, sınıf öğretmenlerin üstün zekalı öğrencilere ilişkin görüşlerini ölçme amacı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırma, KKTC’nin Lefkoşa bölgesindeki bir özel ilkokulun sınıf öğretmenleri ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada öğretmenlere ilişkin dört sorudan oluşan kişisel bilgi formu ve görüşlere ilişkin 33 maddeden oluşan görüş ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ölçek üç boyuttan oluşmaktadır. Birinci boyut öğrenci özellikleri, ikinci boyut öğretmen özellikleri ve üçüncü boyut da ise öğretim özellikleri ele alınmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan sınıf öğretmenlerinin ölçeğe verdiği cevaplar doğrultusunda, ölçeğin üç boyutu içinde de sınıf öğretmenlerinin mesleki kıdemi ve eğitim durumu, üstün zekalı öğrencilere ilişkin görüşlerinde farklılık göstermediği saptanmıştır.

A Content Analysis of the Studies in Special Education Area.

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to review the articles in special education area. Four hundred articles were identified based on a comprehensive literature search and examined for this study. The articles published in seventeen prominent special education journals between 2009 and 2014 were categorized based on specific criteria. These criteria are the year of publication, name of journals, number of authors, countries of the researchers, research field, method, characteristics of the research sample and the number of the references cited in the studies. This study is a content analysis of the articles published between 2009 and 2014 and provides an opportunity to identify current research topics, methods, and citation trends in the area of special education. The results of the study suggests that most of the studies were conducted in 2012 and in America. Particularly, individuals with physical disabilities were most frequently selected as the sample group of the studies. It was also detected that most of the articles used experimental research methods. Various results were obtained from this study and discussion, future implications and limitations of the study are provided.
