Abstract

Few studies in psychology and medical researchs have studied effect of pilates on students anxiety, attention, motivation and cognitive function. Pilates has many physical and mental benefits. This study examined the association between pitates exercises and students anxiety, attention, motivation and cognitive functions that are very important parameters affecting on academic performance. The first time is represented the structural model of the problem. The ways that pilates affects on anxiety, attention, motivation, and cognitive function are established

Application of-Number Based Modeling in Psychological Research

Abstract

Pilates exercises have been shown beneficial impact on physical, physiological, and mental characteristics of human beings. In this paper, Z-number based fuzzy approach is applied for modeling the effect of Pilates exercises on motivation, attention, anxiety, and educational achievement. The measuring of psychological parameters is performed using internationally recognized instruments: Academic Motivation Scale (AMS), Test of Attention (D2 Test), and Spielberger’s Anxiety Test completed by students. The GPA of students was used as the measure of educational achievement. Application of Z-information modeling allows us to increase precision and reliability of data processing results in the presence of uncertainty of input data created from completed questionnaires. The basic steps of Z-number based modeling with numerical solutions are presented

Statistical Resoning of İmpact of Motivation on Students Achivement in Foreign Language Learning

Abstract

This research focuses on statistical reasoning in motivation issues in learning a foreign language. The opinions of university students studying at different departments and taking a foreign language course have been investigated through 43 statements related to motivation issues in order to find out their opinions on motivation sources in general, classroom motivation sources and motivation problems that arise or they encounter during their foreign language studies. The responses of participants through all the statements were in very close line with each other, without revealing any significant difference. The relation between the participants achievement level in foreign language courses and motivation revealed contradiction as the respondents claim lack of motivation but have a achievement level over the minimum pass level. This result reveals that in terms of statistical reasoning there is a contradiction between negative motivation and positive achievement.

Abstract

Abstract Educational achievement of students is closely related to psychological determinants. Information on relation between psychological parameters such as motivation, attention, anxiety and educational achievement of students is naturally characterized by fuzziness and partial reliability. In order to obtain information, we use experiments conducted by using Pilates exercises. The obtained information is formalized by using Z-number concept which allows describing fuzzy and partially reliable information. Thus, we use Z-number valued regression model to describe dependence of educational achievement on motivation, attention, and anxiety. An example is used to show validity of the model.
