Effect of the counselling course on the attitude of the students of pre-school teaching towards the children's masturbation behaviour

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to examine whether the counselling course that the pre-school teaching students have taken in the Near East University, has affected the attitudes of students towards the masturbation behaviour of the 3-6 years old children or not. The sample of this descriptive analysis is the 160 students of the Pre-school Teaching Department of the Near East University. ‘The Attitude Scale Towards the Masturbation Behaviour of the 3-6 Years Old Children’ that has been developed by the researcher (2009) is used to determine the attitudes of students towards the masturbation behaviour of 3-6 years old children. The obtained data was analyzed by the 17 package program of SPSS with ANOVA and multiple comparison tests of LSD. According to the statistical analysis, significant results are achieved on the attitudes of the pre-school teaching students who took the counselling courses.

Abstract

Bringing up individuals who think independently, who have reached critical point of view, which have the ability to decide independently, who are productive and creative is related with the content of education directly. Today, the studies made in the neurology and psychology area have proved that brain development and mental activities in pre-school education have been developing in a great pace. The mental and physical development pace in pre-school period is a process for developing thought capacity and creativeness. In this education process, the physical, mental, emotional and social development as a whole should be supported. The impact of science activities providing them achieve problem solving ability in a scientific way and facilitating information transfer by developing their researching, exploring and observing ability derived from their curiosity is essential. In the pre-school period, science activities provide a significant environment for the kids’ developing their cognitive skills. In this study, the science and nature themes included in new Pre-school Education Program which is updated in 2012 and put into use in Turkey in 2013 as a pilot scheme are analysed and their appropriateness to cognitive development for the addressed age group are evaluated. The study has been carried out in accordance with the qualitative research methods and it has been patterned with content analysis. According to the data gained, it is recommended that the present 2002 and 2006 program which has been applied in TRNC should be changed; the updated program which has been prepared according to developing skill, attitude, value and understanding should be revised properly to the cognitive development and should be enriched through science content and should also be used in Northern Cyprus.

Özgürce düşünebilen, eleştirel bakış açısına ulaşmış, bağımsız karar verme yetisine sahip, üretken ve yaratıcıbireyler yetiştirmek eğitimin içeriği ile doğrudan ilgilidir. Günümüzde nöroloji ve psikoloji alanında yapılançalışmalar beyin gelişiminin ve zihinsel etkinliklerin okul öncesi dönemde büyük bir hızla geliştiğiniispatlamaktadır. Okul öncesi dönemdeki bu zihinsel ve bedensel gelişim hızı, düşünce kapasitelerinin veyaratıcılığın geliştirilmesi için potansiyel bir süreçtir. Bu eğitim sürecinde çocukların bedensel, zihinsel, duygusalve sosyal yönden bir bütün olarak gelişmeleri desteklenmelidir. Çocukların meraklarından doğan araştırma,keşfetme ve gözlem yetilerini geliştirerek, bilimsel bir yolla problem çözme becerisi kazandırma ve bilgi transferinikolaylaştırmada fen etkinliklerinin etkisi büyüktür. Okul öncesi dönemde fen etkinlikleri çocukların bilişselyeteneklerinin gelişimi için önemli bir çevre sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada 2012 yılında güncelleştirilmiş veTürkiye’de 2013 yılında pilot uygulamaya konulmuş olan yeni Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programında yer alan fen vedoğa temaları incelenmiş, kapsamı ve hitap ettiği yaş grubunun bilişsel gelişimine uygunluğu değerlendirilmiştir.Çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerine uygun olarak yürütülmüş, betimsel analiz ile motiflendirilmiştir. Elde edilenveriler doğrultusunda KKTC’de uygulanmakta olan mevcut 2002 ve 2006 programının değiştirilerek beceri, tutum,değer ve anlayış geliştirmeye yönelik hazırlanan güncelleştirilmiş programın uygulanması önerilmiş ve KKTC okulöncesi eğitiminde yeterli öneme sahip olmayan fen eğitiminin yaygınlaştırılması ve benimsenmesi amacıylaçözüm önerileri sunulmuştur.
