The Guide to Story-Telling For Computer Games

Abstract

This book is the first reference book written in Farsi about script writing for computer games. This guide book contains different sections such as the history of computer games development, its different genre, step by step guide to script writing for computer games and finally the script of Garshasp, the first Iranian Computer game.

Abstract

In the recent decades, Iranian Cinema has been receiving international acclaims. However, it is puzzling to notice the dark portrayal of post-revolution Iran in western media. This seems contradictory to the supposedly poetic, humanitarian approaches of the Iranian art cinema. The question is how are the Iranian women situated in this ‘humanitarian’ approach? This research attempts to explore the representation of women in Iranian cinema by analyzing Asghar Farhadi’s film called “A Separation”. Through telling the story of a married couple on the eve of divorce, this Oscar-winner film raises the issues of traditions, family values, judgment, truth, and male-female relationships. Therefore, the film is a good site of studying/analyzing the issue of representation of women. As an internationally well-known director who is immersed in Iranian cinema, Asghar Farhadi claimed that he intended to give a “realistic” and complex vision to his characters, whether male or female. Thus, how his film depicts this “real” vision of women is a central question in this research. To what extent his film, “A Separation”, succeeded in altering the misogynistic tradition of dominant cinema in Iran? Did his claim of “real” representation of women achieved the breaking of the conservative ideological gender hegemony or it still constructs underrepresentation and stereotyping images of Iranian women through the film-maker’s gendered perspective? The theoretical frame work of critical feminist film studies and textual analysis will be used to find out if there is any improvement in how meaning is constructed via various thematic, stylistic, technical and narrative options. This paper is divided into 3 separate sections; first, the narratives of the film, second, the context, and third is the textual analysis.
