Abstract

Mathematical models described by various real dynamic processes can be reduced to boundary value problems for partial differential equations. A well-known and widely applied method of approximating the solutions of various problems of partial differential equations is the method of difference schemes. The main theoretical questions centres around their accuracy and stability. The advancements in modern computer technology make it possible to solve difficult and computationally demanding problems. Hence, a task of current interest is the construction and investigation of highly accurate difference schemes for various boundary value problems for partial differential equations. The monograph is devoted to the construction and investigation of highly accurate difference schemes for parabolic boundary value problems, based on Pade approximations. The investigation is based on a new notion of positivity of difference operators in Banach spaces, which allows one to deal with difference schemes of arbitrary order of accuracy. Establishing coercivity inequalities allows one to obtain sharp convergence rates, that is two-sided estimates. The proofs are based on results from interpolation theory of linear operators. This approach has led to the development of the theory of difference schemes of high order accuracy for various boundary value problems for partial differential equations. At present many researchers apply this methodology to investigate various problems of mathematical physics and stochastic models which appear in applied problems.

Abstract

The monograph is devoted to the construction and investigation of the new high order of accuracy difference schemes for approximating the solutions of regular and singular perturbation boundary value problems for partial differential equations. The construction is based on the exact difference scheme and Taylor's decomposition on the two or three points. This approach permit essentially to extend a class of problems where the theory of difference methods is applicable. Namely, now it is possible to investigate the differential equations with variable coefficients and regular and singular perturbation boundary value problems. The investigation is based on new coercivity inequalities.

We consider the structure of fractional spaces E-alpha (C (R+), A) generated by the positive differential operator A defined by the formula Au(t) = -u(tt)(t) + u(t) with domain D(A) = {u : u(tt), u is an element of C(R+), u(0) = 0, u(infinity) = 0}, where R+ = [0, infinity). It is established that for any 0 < alpha < 1/2, the norms in the spaces E-alpha(C(R+), A) and C-2 alpha (R+) are equivalent. The positivity of the differential operator A in C-2 alpha (R+) is established.

Abstract

In this paper, the stability analysis is presented for a first order difference scheme applied to a nonhomogeneous time fractional Schrodinger differential equation. Based on the z-transform method, stability theorems are proved for the abstract case. The stability results are applied on initial boundary value problems for multidimensional time fractional Schrodinger differential equations. Theoretical findings are validated by numerical experiments on one and two-dimensional time fractional Schrodinger differential equations

Investigation of a Time-Dependent Source Identification Inverse Problem with Integral Overdetermination

Abstract

In the present paper, a time-dependent source identification problem subject to an integral overdetermination is considered. Stability estimates for this differential problem are established. Furthermore, a first and a second order of accuracy difference schemes are proposed for the approximate solution of this problem. Stability and almost coercive stability estimates for these difference schemes are established. Additionally, some illustrative numerical results are provided.
